Claiming Our Birthright

ON page 426 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy says, "The discoverer of Christian Science finds the path less difficult when she has the high goal always before her thoughts, than when she counts her footsteps in endeavoring to reach it."

This high goal is the realization that in our true selfhood we are reflecting or expressing God—are perfect even as He is perfect. Perfection is our birthright. But do we realize this clearly enough, and are we firmly claiming our birthright all the time?

In reality we have always existed in this spiritual state; and in the proportion that we believe and know the truth, it will become apparent to us. Spiritual existence is here and now. In our true being we always have been and always shall be God's reflection, and we can claim all the benefits which accrue from an understanding of this wonderful fact. As John says, "Beloved, now are we the sons of God."
