Words alone cannot express my gratitude for the revelation and demonstrations which have come to me and my family through the study and application of Christian Science. My desire is that through my daily living, and by expressing more compassion, tolerance, and patience to my fellow man, I may in a degree show my gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy for discovering this law of Love, Christian Science, which is redeeming the world from sin, disease, and bondage.

Fourteen years ago I was in the depths of despair. According to my doctors, medical science had nothing to offer me for relief from various diseases. I was suffering from chronic rheumatism, stomach trouble, severe headaches, constipation, and resultant complications. As a last resort and in despair I turned to Christian Science. The constipation was instantly overcome. The other diseases began to disappear and were shortly healed. I was also a heavy drinker and smoker. These habits began to disappear, until as Paul says, I found myself "transformed by the renewing of [my] mind"—my thinking changed and the habits vanished. I became happy and healthy, and a successful business man. My home became happy, and my wife and daughter are now Christian Scientists and we apply the Christ, Truth, to all our problems, including business ones. We have passed through many testing times, but Christian Science has never failed us. Doubt and discouragement have often tried to influence me erroneously, but I have clung steadfastly to Mrs. Eddy's teachings, which always bring hope, encouragement, and blessing.

"A Rule for Motives and Acts," given in the Manual of The Mother Church (Art. VIII, Sect. 1), has always served as a beacon light when I have seemed to be wandering in the jungle of confusion, doubt, and fear. I have realized that it is just as much a violation of this By-law to be influenced erroneously by my own wrong thinking—"a man's foes shall be they of his own household"—as it is to be influenced by the wrong thinking of other people or wrongly to influence them.
