There is a danger that prayer should be merely a means of getting something from God which we have failed to get by our own efforts. That is all that prayer means to some people. It might give us a shock if we brought our prayers under that light. We might find that what we really wanted was not God's will or His fellowship, but just escape from some danger or success in some plan.
