Love Heals!

Christ Jesus said, "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." How did Christ Jesus love? In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 18), "Jesus acted boldly, against the accredited evidence of the senses, against Pharisaical creeds and practices, and he refuted all opponents with his healing power." What a glorious example for us to follow! How soon would discord of every type and nature disappear if each Christian Scientist today would follow the example of the Master, refuting all opponents through healing. This is how Jesus loved!

It is very apparent that the world today is sadly in need of this quality of love, love which singles out neither friend nor foe, Jew nor Gentile, bond nor free, but which recognizes only one creation, one creator, one Father, one governing power, one Mind, to which alone each one of God's ideas is subject. In Malachi (2:10) we read: "Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us?"

No earnest Christian Scientist can be indifferent to the need of healing in the world today, and to his individual responsibility in bringing about this healing. Our beloved Leader writes (ibid., p. 450), "The Christian Scientist has enlisted to lessen evil, disease, and death; and he will overcome them by understanding their nothingness and the allness of God, or good."
