The blessings of Christian Science may be taken too...
The blessings of Christian Science may be taken too much as a matter of course by one who has never known any other religion or had any other physician. This has been true in my case, and it is now high time that I publish my appreciation of what it has done for me.
The prophylactic power of this Science has been demonstrated in my experience to the extent that the aid of its therapeutic power has not very often had to be summoned. When I was given a physical examination, prior to entering preparatory school, it was recorded that the only illness with which I had been afflicted was measles. This ailment disappeared between a Friday afternoon, when I had to come home from school, and the following Monday morning, when I returned to school without a sign of the disorder.
One experience taught me conclusively that Christian Science provides the most effective remedy. During a short school vacation I suffered from repeated spells of nosebleed. When a practitioner was called I would receive prompt relief, but the trouble would reappear without seeming provocation. The practitioner was puzzled, and asked if I was using cold water to help stop the bleeding. It had to be admitted that I had been applying cold water packs. She recommended that if the trouble recurred I should ask my mother to telephone her. We obeyed, and the flow was stopped instantly and permanently, thus providing "the evidence of divine Mind's healing power and absolute control," of which Mrs. Eddy speaks on page 177 of Science and Health.
