The Upward Way

Dear Lord, throughout each active day,
And in the quiet night,
Thy presence and Thy peace divine
Are as a shining light.

Thy power, Thy love, Thy holy will,
Bring to each day delight,
For stony path and rugged way
Lead upward to the height

Where all of sense is lost in Thee,
And human longings cease.
In fragrance of humility
Is permanence of peace.
