For over seventeen years Christian Science has been my only physician, and whether the problem has been physical, mental, or financial, the application of this Science to the problem has brought harmonious and successful results in every case.
Radical was our reliance on Truth during childbirth, which proved to be a harmonious experience. Every law which had been laid down for me during two births prior to my knowledge of Christian Science was made null and void. I studied thoroughly all given references, and especially parts of pages 462 and 463 of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. A practitioner explained that the suggestions from a past experience had no power over me, nor were they laws which God had made for me. I decided to accept the teachings and promises of the Master, and to believe and practice what seemed so right and reasonable. I stopped believing that the food I ate and the liquid I drank made food for the child. I was freed from the burden of drinking a liquid every thirty minutes and from eating certain kinds of food which were said to be necessary. I ate and drank naturally and normally.
On page 70 of Science and Health we read, "The divine Mind maintains all identities, from a blade of grass to a star, as distinct and eternal." Reading statements like this seemed to take the matter out of my hands. I closed the door on the past and left the whole problem to God, with the result that unhappy conditions and a false sense of life began to fade away.
