Out of my deep gratitude for the great blessing I have received from the study of Christian Science, I desire to give this testimony.

Before taking up the study of this Science nine years ago, I was in constant pain in nearly every part of my body. For one year and a half I had been suffering; I would be in bed five and eight weeks at a time, and when not in bed was in a chair on cushions. I was in such a condition that I did not even speak on the telephone for one year. I had five doctors at different times, nurses, X-ray and electric treatments, until I was told that nothing more could be done for me.

Then one day a dear friend asked me if I would try Christian Science. She gave me three copies of the Christian Science Sentinel, which I read from cover to cover, and over and over again. Then one day a doctor told me he was going to try some new treatment, a description of which was coming out in the medical journal. I asked him why I had to suffer so. His answer was that it was just life. Later on I picked up a Sentinel and read an article which quoted Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 496 of Science and Health, "We all must learn that Life is God." I sat up and said, Why, that is not what the doctor told me; I don't have to be like this. Needless to say I grew better each day. The doctor did not try the new treatment, and my healing was so noticeable that the doctor and nurse discharged themselves.
