For about eighteen years I have been enjoying the blessings...
For about eighteen years I have been enjoying the blessings which Christian Science has brought into my life. I did not take up the study with any thought of physical healing, as I had been told by a noted surgeon and physician that I should never be completely well, and I accepted his word as authority on the subject.
When a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was given me, I decided that it certainly could not do me any harm to read it, and I might gain something. I started with the Preface, and the very first sentence arrested my attention: "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (p. vii). I could not put the book down, but read almost all night, although I had to rise very early and go to work, and had thought myself very much in need of rest when I began to read. The next morning I awoke with a great sense of buoyancy and joy and vitality. For days this sense of freedom stayed with me, and I studied every moment I could. I realized at once in my study that I had found the most wonderful teaching in the world since the time of Jesus, and felt I should never need anything else but the Bible and Science and Health for spiritual enlightenment. Since that first glimpse came to me my faith in Christian Science as the final revelation of the truth about God, man, and the universe has never changed.
The daily study and effort to prove the teachings practical have brought me many wonderful, positive proofs of their healing power. The way has often been through fiery trials, but never has the outcome been in doubt when I trusted God and Christian Science.
