Christ Jesus had more knowledge of God than anyone...

Christ Jesus had more knowledge of God than anyone else. If this be admitted, then it is clear what Mrs. Eddy means when she writes in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 313): "Jesus of Nazareth was the most scientific man that ever trod the globe. He plunged beneath the material surface of things, and found the spiritual cause." His daily life was regulated, governed, and controlled by his knowledge of God, and he proved that this knowledge of God—his understanding of divine Science—was sufficient to meet every human need. He walked on the water, turned water into wine, multiplied the loaves and fishes, healed the sick, and even raised the dead, and so proved that a knowledge of divine Science overcomes what are called the laws of physical science.

Christian Scientists are trying, though it may be in a small degree as yet, to follow in the footsteps of the Master, and have their daily lives governed by this divine Science. Christian Science shows that this is done through increasing faith in divine Science, and having less belief in the infallibility of the sciences of men, or physical sciences, which include the "law of sin and death." In the eighth chapter of Romans we read a statement on this line by Paul: "The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death" (Romans 8:2). He showed that this was no mere theoretical statement, for he proved that his knowledge of divine Science freed him from the condemnation of the laws of physical science. He proved this to be an available fact in his daily life when he suffered no harm after a poisonous viper had "fastened on his hand."

I am sure that you will agree with me that Christ Jesus was the most perfect example of right living that the world has ever seen. Also, that the perfection of his human life was due to his knowledge of God. The disciples gained something of this knowledge, which transformed their lives and enabled them to do wonderful works. The early Christians, for some three hundred years, also had enough of this knowledge to enable them to do wonderful works and to endure triumphantly almost unbelievable persecutions.
