In March, 1914, Christian Science put its tender, protecting arms around me when, more than a thousand miles from all that was then humanly dear to me, I was jobless, moneyless, and very much afraid.
More than twenty years later, a reading from the desk of a branch church on the subject of peace brought to me a deep sense of gratitude that Christian Science had given me an enlarged understanding of that peace "which passeth all understanding." I saw that I was amply justified in claiming this peace, as I had been readily healed of all desire to use liquor and tobacco, tea and coffee. I had also been healed of profanity. These are, of course, only a few of the many healings that have come to me through this Science, which is bringing to light in some degree my God-given character or nature.
As these healings enriched my thinking, the former evidences of the poverty of mortal mind began to fade into their native nothingness, and the true riches of spiritual thinking changed my jobless condition, with debts of several thousand dollars, into a new condition of employment and the gradual elimination of all debts.
