In Psalms we read, "It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: to shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night." Therefore I would show forth gratitude for the many blessings that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science.
In 1909 I first read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." I had previously read "The Life of Mary Baker Eddy" by Sibyl Wilbur, and that wonderful book had removed many false impressions and had made me long to read the textbook. As I read Science and Health I was greatly impressed with the literary quality of the book, but it was some time before I perceived its spiritual message, the message of the Christ, Truth. Through the help of a Christian Science practitioner I was healed of astigmatism, for which difficulty I had worn glasses for over twenty years. Quisy sore throat, from which I had suffered severely, was entirely overcome. Later on very persistent neuralgic headaches disappeared.
It was a joyful occasion when the opportunity came to receive class instruction, and for that privilege I can never be too grateful. The instruction at that time, and the uplifting and inspiring messages delivered at our Association meetings year by year, have been to me a source of great help and growth in understanding.
