Many times in the past few years when error has tried to draw me away from serving divine Mind, and especially when discouraged, I have turned to the Manual of The Mother Church and have read in the "Historical Sketch" (pp. 17, 18, 19) how the Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, was established in the year 1879. The reading of this has been a wonderful help to me and has given me inspiration to carry on. I never read it that I do not thank my heavenly Father for the honor of being able to say that I am a member of that church.
My first healing in Christian Science occurred about fifteen years ago, and I shall never cease to be grateful for that demonstration. For a long time I had a most painful condition in both feet, and later the suffering extended to both legs. It made little difference whether I walked, stood, or lay down—the pain continued. Some doctors said these were symptoms of fallen arches, and they suggested arch supports which I tried; but the condition did not improve, so I was advised to consult a foot specialist. He made a plaster cast of my feet and insisted that I wear heavy metal arch supports; later he bound both feet and legs with adhesive tape; but the condition grew worse, so that I could just about get to my office. He finally suggested an operation, which I refused to have.
Then Christian Science was recommended to me. I went to the office of a practitioner, and after one treatment I walked out completely healed. I went home and threw the heavy metal arch supports away, having gained the knowledge and proof that Christian Science heals.
