Seven years ago, as a result of deep disappointments, I became severely ill with melancholia. For about six months I was under the care of various physicians and specialists who tried many material modes of healing such as medicine, injections, electrical and water treatment, suggestion, psychoanalysis, and hypnotism, yet without the slightest success. Each day my condition became worse, and I had lost all hope.

But "man's extremity is God's opportunity." Suddenly I remembered Christian Science, which had been recommended to me from various quarters, but of which I had refused to learn anything. I turned to a practitioner, and after the first treatment there was an improvement. After ten days I was completely healed and was able to resume my work, to the great surprise of my relatives and acquaintances. Encouraged by such proofs I began the earnest study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, with the result that I was also soon healed of stomach disorders and insomnia. Since that time I have enjoyed such health as I had never before known.

Every two or three months our child became afflicted with severe inflammation of the throat. The physician advised us to have her tonsils removed, but we were unwilling to do this. Through the study of Christian Science this trouble also has been healed. My wife had an infection on one of her feet, and in a short time her legs were swollen high above her knees. She suffered great pain and was unable to walk. With the help of Christian Science the pain disappeared after two days, and within a week she was completely healed.
