Annual Meeting of The Mother Church
The Annual Meeting of The Mother Church was held on June 6. The audience filled the main auditorium of The Mother Church, as well as the original edifice, and members were present from all over the world. The various addresses and reports were listened to with deep interest; and a feeling of gratitude pervaded the vast assemblage for the progress reported and for what Christian Science is doing in helping to dispel the sense of gloom and limitation which today seems so prevalent. Profound loyalty to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, characterized the whole proceedings.
At the request of the retiring President, Robert E. Buffum, C.S., of Belmont, Massachusetts, and with the approval of The Christian Science Board of Directors, Mr. George Shaw Cook, retiring First Reader, opened the meeting and afterwards read Mr. Buffum's address. Following the singing of hymn 178, "Saw ye my Saviour?" by Mary Baker Eddy, Mr. Cook read from the Bible and from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, as follows:
The Bible
Isaiah 51:4, 5, 11
33:5, 6 (to colon)
25:6, 7,8
