[Original testimony in German]

It is always an especial joy to me to read the testimonies...

It is always an especial joy to me to read the testimonies of healing in the Heralds and to share in the happiness of those who travel the way Spiritward. I, too, should like to tell of my experience, in order to bring comfort and encouragement to others.

During the winter of 1926 our eleven-year-old boy began to cough. Although the child looked pale, we did not particularly notice the cough, probably because the boy's lively, high-spirited ways deceived us. Thus the spring came. A friend, a physician, who often dropped in on us, observed the child, however, and one day had us take his temperature. During the night the child became feverish. A few days later the physician examined the boy thoroughly, and to our great alarm told us that steps must be taken at once to save the child from tuberculosis; that the lungs and the pleura were seriously affected, and that it was necessary to do something soon, for prevention was easier than cure. As my husband is not interested in Christian Science, the physician's orders had to be carried out. Five anxious weeks followed, which the lively boy had to spend in bed. During that time his temperature never went down to normal.

As I had very frequently experienced the blessings of Christian Science for sixteen years, I turned in this case also to a dear practitioner in Breslau, who combated the false beliefs with unwearying patience. Success came in a moment when we were scarcely as yet aware of it. As the fever did not abate, the physician — a good, conscientious man — took an X-ray picture of the boy, and to our astonishment and the physician's there were no abscesses to be seen in the lungs or bronchia.
