At Last I Know

I pondered oft in silent hours
About His wondrous love divine,
And thought, Ah! would it meet all need
When trials came to me or mine?
And would I doubt and shrink in fear
And blindly stumble through the night,
Or would I, trusting, know His voice
And cry: Dear Lord, I see the light?

And now 'tis past, the valley trod,
The days of trial came to me,
And oh! my heart is filled with thanks
That I did look with faith to Thee.
The true support, the joy that came,
The tender blessings Truth did show!
I no more doubt His changeless love,
But sing, dear God, at last I know.
