I Know that Christian Science is the truth, and that it...
I Know that Christian Science is the truth, and that it never fails when correctly applied. For twenty-seven years I have depended solely upon its teachings for the solution of every problem.
My work as a kindergarten teacher has been carried on, supported, and maintained solely through radical reliance upon divine Principle, God; and gradually, as the work has grown in responsibilities, and the school in size, I have learned more and more to depend upon God's guidance in planning the work. As I have humbly followed this guidance, placing the responsibility in God's loving care, the work has become a joy; and a great degree of success has accordingly resulted. At the time of the influenza epidemic several years ago I was able to hold my position each day, being the only one of eighteen teachers to stand at my post through it all. For this undoubted proof of God's protection I have always been grateful.
Recently I experienced a proof of the power of God's law of operation. A tooth which had a large porcelain inlay suddenly began to cause much discomfort, and for a few hours I struggled with a great sense of pain. I did what seemed to be the wise thing — went to the dentist. He immediately expressed fear that an ulcer was forming on the root, and that it would be necessary to remove the inlay, which would require much drilling. This thought filled me with dread, as the tooth was painful even to the touch of the finger. However, I made an appointment for two hours later in the afternoon, and went back to my afternoon class at school. I called for help from a Christian Science practitioner. During the afternoon I had little time to do anything but attend to my teaching, but exactly ten minutes before time to leave school, I felt something loose in my mouth, and the inlay, which a few hours before had seemed to be solidly implanted in the tooth, dropped out. The dentist was surprised, but I knew it to be another proof of God's work. Surely the Word of God was "quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword." Upon examination nothing of a disagreeable nature was found; and the tooth was properly cared for.
