Our Present Existence Illumined
The student of Christian Science is gaining a constantly increasing appreciation of the import of the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, by proving their practical application in human affairs. Now human experience seems to be a complication of problems, with rough spots, byways, and pitfalls; and many of earth's weary pilgrims are eagerly looking for some illumined way out of the difficulties. The Psalmist pointed to such a way when in praise to God he said, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
Mrs. Eddy has written in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 196), "The sweet, sacred sense and permanence of man's unity with his Maker, in Science, illumines our present existence with the ever-presence and power of God, good." "Man's unity with his Maker" is an established scientific fact, and this fact should be as readily recognized as is the fact of the relationship between the sun and its rays. As we reach this spiritual point of view, the path becomes illumined and the human way begins to follow the divine as we yield to the guidance of Mind, God. The source of all intelligence is divine Mind; and as we reflect, or express, the light of divine intelligence we see just how and where to go.
The fact that thousands of persons have found in Christian Science the path of shining light is of tremendous importance to the whole world, for it offers convincing evidence; and weary hearts are being made hopeful as they turn to the truth revealed in the writings of Mrs. Eddy. Throughout the world the agencies or activities of The Mother Church, wisely instituted by her, are ministering to the seekers of Truth. The authorized Christian Science literature, the church services, the lectures, and Christian Science practitioners are responsible avenues through which may be gained right information regarding Christian Science. These agencies may be likened to lamps that light the way to harmony.
