From the unreal and unnatural views that I formerly...

From the unreal and unnatural views that I formerly had of life, I have experienced some remarkable changes through the spiritual understanding gained from the study of Christian Science.

The revelation that God really means good was very wonderful to me. I derived so much help from this one point that it seemed to change my whole view of life, so that when I confronted old experiences they were altogether changed by the wonder of this viewpoint. To use Mrs. Eddy's words on page 323 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "Beholding the infinite tasks of truth, we pause,—wait on God. Then we push onward, until boundless thought walks enraptured, and conception unconfined is winged to reach the divine glory." I seemed to be "enraptured" by it all. I learned that since God is good it is impossible for Him to send evil upon any of His creation. The understanding of this has gradually lessened a deep sense of fear or dread of the future, to which I had been in bondage since early childhood, and brought me that peace which I had so long hoped for. The Bible is becoming an open book to me through spiritual understanding, where formerly it seemed comforting but very contradictory.

As I was backing a heavy car from the garage about five years ago, both a back and a front wheel ran over my small son's arm and leg. A doctor who examined him a few minutes later (because of the wishes of others) could hardly credit what we told him when he found no sign of injury upon the boy. I have had many discordant conditions overcome by Christian Science, such as colds, tonsillitis, burns, gathering in the head, acid burns on the eyeball, also impatience and other bad traits of character.
