Over thirteen years ago the troublous events of human existence had brought me to a state of deep despondency and physical discord. Wrong thinking and consequent wrong action had brought forth their fruits of suffering. But, as our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has so beautifully phrased it in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 574), "The very circumstance, which your suffering sense deems wrathful and afflictive, Love can make an angel entertained unawares." It was at this point that a Christian Science friend called at our home one evening. Knowing her to be an adherent of that religious teaching, I questioned her as to the nature of Christian Science. A partial explanation was then given, and a few days later a copy of the Christian Science textbook was lent to me. From then to the present moment, the benefits accru ing from our study of the Bible in conjunction with Science and Health have been manifold.

I went to a practitioner for treatment for healing of disease; but my first healing was of the habit of using profane and improper language, a habit I had not thought of giving up. Three days after my first visit to the practitioner's office I awakened to the fact, while at my work, that I had not used profanity for just that length of time. I realized that I had received a Christian Science healing. With continued change in my thinking, health was eventually made manifest on the body. The desire for tobacco in all its forms was cast out through the application of the truth. Chronic stomach trouble disappeared, and numerous other discordant conditions were eliminated. Demonstrations of the power of Truth were also made in a business way, whereby promotion in my line of work was received with an increased salary. These are just a few of my own experiences. Each member of the family can testify to many blessings received through the application of Christian Science.

Our gratitude for Christian Science is not, however, primarily for the physical healing. When we realize that our revered Leader has revealed the Comforter promised by Jesus, the Comforter that leads "into all truth," it has a much higher significance to us. The understanding gleaned from Christian Science of the true nature of creation, of man in God's image; the further unfoldment of the nature of the kingdom of heaven, and the way by which we may attain it, is of more value to us than any temporal benefit; it is indeed the "pearl of great price." My gratitude is deep and sincere for the loving and tender guidance of divine Love during these thirteen years. Class instruction and membership in both The Mother Church and a branch church are experiences that have brought additional blessings and inspiration to me.—
