About five years ago, while in a hospital, I was advised...

About five years ago, while in a hospital, I was advised by my physician that it was necessary for me to undergo a serious operation immediately, and that I could not be well until this was done. I had suffered for years from what had been diagnosed as chronic ulcer of the stomach, had taken a great deal of medicine, and had tried dieting, but all to no avail. I grew steadily worse, until the point was reached where the suffering was almost unbearable. I could not make up my mind to undergo an operation, as it seemed to me there must be some other way. I had read the Bible a great deal and remembered many of the healings performed by the Saviour when he was on earth. Much against the doctor's wishes I left the hospital and went home, very much discouraged. My wife and I talked the matter over, and she suggested that we try Christian Science. Although I had almost no faith in it, we went to a practitioner and asked for help, which was lovingly given.

I shall never forget how wonderfully patient this practitioner was in explaining to me the truth about God and man's relation to Him. My healing was not complete for several months, but for this I have always been thankful, for during this time I was studying the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The wonderful truth was steadily dawning upon me; and I wish to state here, with all sincerity, that this study, together with the loving help given me by Christian Science practitioners, lifted me into a new life, the dawning of a new day. Christian Science is forming me anew. Many things that once troubled me have disappeared, and I am learning to see man as God made him, perfect and eternal; and this is enabling me to love God with all my heart and my neighbor as myself. I have come to know that God does not send sickness and suffering upon His children; that He has only love and blessings for them. My wife has also become deeply interested in Christian Science, and our home is harmonious and happy. Our children, as well as we ourselves, have experienced many wonderful healings.
