It is with a great sense of gratitude that I tell of a healing that was brought about in the winter of 1921. I was taken suddenly ill with pneumonia and complications of the head and back. There seemed to be a roaring in the head, and I was delirious from the start. During this time I was having absent treatment from a practitioner in a distant city, and one night, when I seemed very much worse and apparently was nearly passing on, my sister, who was a loyal Christian Scientist, sat on the bed from one to four in the morning and declared the truth aloud to me. The principal declaration was, "Truth, Life, and Love are a law of annihilation to everything unlike themselves, because they declare nothing except God" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 243). She said that I commenced to quiet down and began declaring the truth with her; then all at once the roaring ceased in my head, the fever left, and I was in my right mind and said to her: "Everything in this room says, 'Truth, Life, and Love,' even the clock ticks it. I am healed." We both prayed and thanked God until daylight. I am so grateful that during this trial I was cared for entirely by loving Christian Scientists. I also want to express my gratitude for the healing of chronic bowel and stomach trouble.
