The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Boston, Massachusetts (Third Church).

Lecturer: Bliss Knapp; introduced by Mrs. Sarah J. Otis, who said:—

Fourteen years ago I was greatly in need of healing, having been told by physicians, after having several operations and constant medical treatment, that I could not live for more than two years. While I was reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, for the first time, I was instantaneously healed of dyspepsia by the definite statements made on page 222 concerning the falsity of that malady. Gradually, through the application of the truth as taught by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, other disorders disappeared, until I, too, could say, We have found the Christ, "and of his fulness have all we received." Mrs. Eddy defines "Christ" (Science and Health, p. 583) as "the divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error."
