Christian Science has healed every discord that has come upon me for over fifteen years. Never once has the temptation come to me to think of or to apply a material remedy during that time, although prior to this I was well versed in home and first-aid remedies. When seemingly in "the valley of the shadow" I am grateful that the truth held sway in my consciousness. Like Abraham with his "only son"—when he was willing to give him up he found there was no need to do so! I too found the healing Christ at hand.

The words of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 392), "Stand porter at the door of thought," were made plain to me after an instantaneous healing from pain after I had poured boiling candy over my hand. Some time later the thought came to me to look at the hand. When I saw no sign of a burn, the thought came that perhaps it was not a bad burn after all; that getting the boiling candy off my hand so quickly had probably prevented the skin from breaking, and maybe after all it was not really scalding. Instantly, with those thoughts, the place became inflamed and the suffering intense. I had to declare the truth aloud, and was not relieved for over twenty minutes. I had not been standing porter; and so it took time to realize what one true positive thought had accomplished instantly. This lesson was a blessing to me.

I am grateful for Christian Science, grateful that God has been revealed to me as Life, Truth, Love; also for the peace this revelation brings. Never to feel lonely, lovingly to withstand opposition, to be able to turn in any emergency to a positive rule and mode of thinking and to view a seeming enemy with compassion—these are things I am deeply grateful for. I am grateful also to that noble woman, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, for the spiritual light she has brought to this age.
