When three years of age, our little son was very ill

When three years of age, our little son was very ill. We called in a medical practitioner, who, after attention for many weeks, said he was afraid nothing more could be done, as the child had been delicate from birth, and as pneumonia had left complications. At this point Christian Science was brought to my notice, through the visit of a friend, and I consented to try it. I asked my friend if she would obtain help for me from a Christian Science practitioner; and this she very lovingly did. Absent treatment was given, and three days later the boy was up, dressed, and playing around—quite happy and free. A few days later the practitioner came to our home and very lovingly explained to us something of the teachings of Christian Science, and we were quite satisfied that this religion was the truth.

For fifteen years I had suffered from an internal trouble, for which I had undergone four operations in different hospitals in England, and had obtained the best possible help from noted specialists; but the year before our child's illness I was sent home from a hospital as incurable, and given two years to live. After our child's healing I took up the study of Christian Science earnestly, and soon experienced my first healing, this being the casting off of glasses worn for many years. At this time we lived some distance from the nearest Christian Science church, and it appeared very difficult for me to attend any services, as I had been unable to walk far for many months; and to reach a street car or train to enable us to attend church meant a long walk. However, the desire to attend a service being very great, I started out one Sunday evening. Afterwards, although these journeys were constantly undertaken with much physical suffering, I am deeply grateful to say it was on an occasion of walking home from a service that I was healed of the internal trouble.

This healing took place over five years ago, and has been maintained. Soon after this healing, a severe attack of pneumonia was overcome through the good work of a practitioner. Within a month I was again able to attend church. We have since then experienced many beautiful healings in the home: coughs, influenza, scarlet fever, measles, chicken pox, heart trouble, and many other discordant conditions have been overcome, some through the loving help of practitioners and others through the understanding we have gained of Truth from the Bible and the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
