In giving a testimony, my thought so often goes back to...
In giving a testimony, my thought so often goes back to my first healing, about thirteen years ago. I was suffering from a nervous breakdown and insomnia, and was continually under the care of a physician. He finally recommended a change of climate. I went south with a member of my family, but received no benefit and returned in three weeks, going back to medical treatment.
Soon after I reached home I went to see a friend, and for the first time saw a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I asked her about the book, and she stated that when she felt bad she borrowed the book from a library and after reading it for a while felt improved. So when I returned home I bought a copy of the book and began reading it in connection with the Scriptures. My first impression was how much clearer the Scriptures seemed to me; and by the time I finished reading the book the insomnia was entirely healed, and my general condition much improved. This healing always seemed remarkable to me, because I knew no one at the time who was a Christian Scientist, and I had never heard much about it, and just the reading of this book brought about the healing.
During the past eleven years I have relied entirely on Christian Science for all my needs, and I am indeed grateful for many proofs of God's tender care. One of the blessings I am very grateful for is the understanding I have gained that we are never separated from God, but that "in him we live, and move, and have our being," and that His kingdom is within us.
