Fourteen years ago in the Christian Science Sunday School...

Fourteen years ago in the Christian Science Sunday School the seed of Truth was first sown in me, and although until the past two years I traveled comparatively alone, so far as friends and relatives were concerned, I have reaped abundant good. My first healing was from chronic constipation in a most aggravated form, which had held me in bondage since early childhood. Although it is years since this demonstration was made, it has been permanent, as have been all our healings.

Our little son of three has rested securely in the "everlasting arms" of our Father-Mother God. He, too, has been healed of constipation, and recently of a severe fever. In the middle of the night before its final destruction, error (the fever) screamed its loudest. The baby seemed delirious. Then error shouted in my consciousness, How can you say error is unreal when this babe at your side is suffering so? Then as in the case of Jacob of old wrestling "with error,—struggling with a mortal sense of life, substance, and intelligence as existent in matter with its false pleasures and pains,—when an angel, a message from Truth and Love, appeared to him and smote the sinew, or strength, of his error, till he saw its unreality" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 308), a similar battle was fought and won. Once again it was proved that "where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty;" for after a deep sleep the babe awakened entirely free.

To say that I am grateful for these and countless other blessings seems so inadequate! My gratitude to God; to Christ Jesus, our great Exemplar; to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy; and to the loving practitioner who helped me to know and demonstrate more of this beautiful truth that makes free, is best expressed in works. My constant prayer is that I and all mankind may come nearer to a full demonstration of our Leader's "scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468); for then truly we shall have "on earth peace, good will toward men."
