In the year 1916, through the reading of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was completely healed of hemorrhages from which I had suffered almost continuously for eighteen years. My physician had strongly urged an operation, although he frankly stated that I could not live more than a year longer, and in desperation I then turned to Christian Science. I knew nothing about Christian Science, and went to a department store seeking literature on the subject. I was shown the textbook, which I purchased and commenced reading. My interest was sufficiently aroused to cause me to look for newspaper notices of Christian Science churches. In doing so, I saw an advertisement of a Christian Science lecture, which I attended and became convinced that spiritual healing is available to-day; that "God is no respecter of persons;" that the Christ, Truth, can cure every ill. I continued reading the textbook and began attending the Sunday services and Wednesday evening meetings of a Christian Science church. The result was that I began to learn the true concept of God and of existence as taught in Christian Science, and during the third week I was healed. Not only did the hemorrhages cease, but insomnia, headache, and valvular heart trouble also disappeared.

About a week later my physician called me on the telephone to inquire my decision regarding the operation which he had suggested, and strongly urged that I delay no longer. The following week I called at his office, and both he and his secretary were amazed at my improved appearance. I was weighed, and found to have gained eight pounds. After a thorough examination, he said, "There is nothing the matter with you." He stated, however, that I would not remain so, and that he would be glad to be of assistance to me whenever I required it. I am most grateful to testify that my healing has been complete and permanent. Since that time chronic tonsillitis, neuritis, periodical attacks of gout and acute indigestion, all of which I had suffered from since early childhood, have been healed.

Through the understanding of Christian Science which I gained I was enabled to prove the truth of Jesus' promise, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." In my time of need, I did turn to God, asking for healing, and received it; I continued to seek, and found Truth;I knocked and kept on knocking, in spite of seeming failure, until I experienced the glorious possibilities of the healing truth as revealed in Christian Science. Step by step I availed myself of the opportunities for growth afforded by membership in a branch church and in The Mother Church; also through subscriptions to all the literature provided by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and by class instruction. Each step in advancement resulted from demonstration.
