It is with unbounded gratitude that I am sending my testimony of the wonderful healing power of Christian Science. My case proves the truth of the statement in Hebrews that the Word of God searches to "the joints and marrow." Quite early in life I became afflicted with a malady located in the marrow of the shin bone. It was accompanied with a continuous pain, which deprived me of rest. I was able to lie down only for a few moments at a time, because the pain would then be so much more severe. All the sleep I obtained would follow extreme exhaustion or the use of artificial means. Everything was done for me that kind surgeons and doctors usually think necessary—many surgical operations, probing, and remedies which might offer any relief. These treatments extended over a period of a number of years, until the final verdict was given: "Nothing more can be done."
About a year later I became interested in Christian Science, which was met with great opposition from parents, friends, and church; but I had seen the light, and had to press on. Evil with its usual ways and means tried to appear like a Goliath to obstruct the way, but through nights spent in prayer and in reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the Lesson-Sermons over and over again, I would rise above the arguments of error. I had many such battles, but the victory was finally won. Opposition and persecution were overcome, and physical healing was realized; but best of all a knowledge of God as divine Principle, unchangeable Love, Father-Mother, had been attained, which has enabled me again and again to rest secure whatever betide. This understanding of God has healed me of loneliness, has been my daily comfort, and has supplied my every need.
I know that my expression of gratitude is barren unless I live the life, to the best of my knowledge, which our great Master, Christ Jesus, came to point out, and which is so faithfully and clearly explained in our textbook and our beloved Leader's many other writings, as well as in our periodicals. She has also established The Mother Church with its branch churches, to enlighten, encourage, and uplift us along our pathway. Sincerity and honesty of purpose will certainly bring the peace of God to every seeker after Truth. I am truly grateful.
