Several years ago the testimony of my original healing...

Several years ago the testimony of my original healing through Christian Science was published in The Christian Science Journal. However, I think that an added incident which occurred during that healing might prove helpful to some seeker.

When Christian Science was first introduced to me, I had been lying, an utter wreck, for almost six years, and among many other discords was suffering from spinal trouble resulting in loss of power in the limbs. As I had previously exhausted all material remedies which had been brought to my notice, I now began an earnest study of the literature pertaining to Christian Science which was kindly lent to me. In less than six weeks I began, once more, to learn to walk, though my first attempts were somewhat haltingly and fearfully undertaken.

Then one day in a Christian Science Journal I read an article which appealed to me very much. It showed the difference between human pity or sympathy, as manifest in mortal mind, and divine compassion, as expressed through Christ Jesus. It very clearly explained that Jesus was so sure of God's allness and goodness, so positive that Love was the only power and presence, that he never saw anything to pity. It quoted the statement made by Mrs. Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. 476, 477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick." In seeing only perfect God, perfect man, and a perfect universe governed by divine Love, Christ Jesus lifted the seeming sufferer above the need of pity by setting him free.
