When I first heard of Christian Science I thought it was a beautiful religion. My aunts were visiting me, and one of them had been healed of stomach trouble and was studying Christian Science very earnestly. At that time the physical healing did not impress me so much as the fact that Christian Science teaches one not to criticize others. I wanted to know more about this religion, but thought at that time I was too busy to study, as I was helping my husband in business and also keeping up the home.
About two years later a friend took me to a Christian Science church for the first time. I thought the service the most beautiful one I had ever heard, although I did not understand what was read, as neither the Bible nor the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was familiar to me. When I came out of the church I felt so uplifted that I wanted to go again that evening, and I felt disappointed when my friend did not take me. Still I thought I was too busy to take up the study of Christian Science, but felt that some day I would, when I had more time.
At last man's extremity proved to be God's opportunity. I had been having much trouble with a growth in my nose and it was getting very serious. I had been to three specialists, and each had said I must have an operation. I did not want to submit to one because I had no faith in operations. I was, however, told the condition was serious because it might develop into That frightened me very much; and I decided to try Christian Science before having an operation. Words cannot express my gratitude for this step and for the wonderful experience I had. I went to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and in a very short time was healed not only of this trouble, but of many others. I was healed of bilious attacks to which I had been subject since I was a child. Since then I have been healed of colds, sick headaches, mumps, influenza, sprained ankle, and many other ailments.
