During the seven years that I have studied Christian Science...
During the seven years that I have studied Christian Science I have been freed from a number of diseases and discordant conditions solely through the power of Truth.
One morning I awoke to find myself crippled with rheumatism. To mortal sense I was scarcely able to take a step without intense suffering; and later, I became stiff in every joint. I telephoned to a practitioner for help, which was lovingly given; and although the last vestige of pain did not leave me until fully six weeks later, there were very few days during this period when I was not able to attend to my daily duties; and for that I was very thankful. Most of the help I received was through absent treatment. I did not have to lose any time in the performance of my customary tasks. The contrast between this efficacious treatment and a healing which I received in former years, before coming into Christian Science, when I had an attack of rheumatism, is surely remarkable. On previous occasions I used every remedy recommended by physicians and others, including drugs, massage, change of climate, baths, and change of diet; but a number of weary months, instead of weeks, went by before I found relief, and then not permanently.
Through my understanding of the operation of divine Principle I have been able to overcome neuralgia and other discordant conditions. I was healed of a chronic ailment, with which I had had to contend since childhood, during my first few visits to a practitioner, when the truths of Christian Science were explained to me. I had not asked, nor did I expect to be healed of this condition. This was such convincing proof to me of the power of Truth that I have never since been tempted to rely upon any other remedy.
