Christian Science came to me nine years ago, at a time...
Christian Science came to me nine years ago, at a time when it seemed as if I could go no further because of mental and physical anguish. It instantaneously changed my viewpoint on life to such an extent that I returned to my position the following day and, instead of resigning, set to work with a joy and assurance which brought immediate success. With this change in my thinking, which had to a degree removed a sense of personal responsibility and brought a glimpse of man's absolute dependence upon God and His care for His children, came relief from the physical conditions for which I had been doctoring for five years. Glasses were laid off shortly afterwards, and fear began gradually to be destroyed.
Since I have learned through Christian Science how to rely on God, the Psalmist's promise, "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, . . . and what-soever he doeth shall prosper," has certainly been fulfilled in my experience. My wife, and two sons who have come to us since this healing, have also enjoyed the assurance of health, peace, and love as ever present. Physical and other problems which have arisen have been speedily solved and overcome through the application of the truth, sometimes with the loving aid of authorized practitioners.
Early in 1917 we seemed to be led out of the position before mentioned and into the formation of a new business. Although business conditions seemed unfavorable at the time, the war being in progress, and we were quite generally advised against the step, a desire to be obedient to this leading, and a willingness to endeavor to prove the presence of God in the affairs of men, sustained us through many trials and difficulties; and our business now stands as a successful demonstration of divine Mind's power to direct, protect, and provide to the uttermost.
