With this testimony I should like to express, as many others have done, gratitude to God and Christian Science. In 1920 I was suffering from a serious condition of bleeding nephritis. I had been confined to my bed for seventeen weeks, as our physician considered this the only possible way of bringing about my recovery. My parents consulted several other physicians, among whom was a renowned specialist, who agreed with his colleagues in regard to my keeping in bed, and besides this prescribed some strong medicine to stimulate the action of the heart. But instead of getting better I grew worse. My parents and I were quite discouraged. In this distress an acquaintance called my mother's attention to Christian Science. At my parents' request a dear practitioner came to our house, explained to us the rudiments of Christian Science, and gave me treatment.

Although my mother had always trusted in God, it was very difficult for her to understand the teachings of Christian Science. But we both endeavored to study Herald and other Christian Science periodicals, and later on the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Then I steadily progressed, and in three weeks was able to go with my parents into the mountains.

From the very beginning I was deeply interested in this religion, and I like to attend the Christian Science Sunday School very much. I am very grateful to God for leading me to this wonderful teaching, and to Mrs. Eddy for her great discovery.—Herbert Ludwig, Berlin, Germany.
