I first turned to Christian Science for physical help at a time when preparations were being made for me to go to the hospital for a third operation, the last one being necessary because the previous one had not been properly performed. I had heard of Christian Science and had witnessed healings among my relatives and friends, but felt I was getting along very well and did not need this help. However, at this time I realized the seriousness of the situation and felt that I should have to make my choice immediately, whether to have another operation or to try Christian Science. After talking with a friend who had called to see me, I decided that the right and only course to take was to rely on the teachings of Christian Science as given by its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy.

After making this decision, I called a practitioner and asked her to come to see me. Before she left the home, all sense of fear had gone; and I had a good night's rest for the first time in many weeks. The following morning I called the physician who was to attend me in the hospital, and told him I was not going to have the operation as had been planned, and sometime I would tell him why. In less than two weeks I was completely healed; and I have had no return of the trouble since, over twelve years. After my healing I wanted to know what had healed me, and how the healing had been accomplished; so I began the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and have continued the study ever since. The more I gain of the understanding of this truth that makes free, the greater appreciation I have for the unceasing, faithful labor of love our Leader has given to all mankind.

I have had many healings since, one of what would be termed double pneumonia. By the realization that God is an ever present help in trouble, and that He does not send sickness upon His children, I saw that I was believing something that was not true. Again a practitioner was called, and in a few hours I was able to dress and go about the room, knowing that once more I had been healed by the application of Christian Science, and that the words of the one hundred and third psalm, that God "healeth all thy diseases," had been proved true.
