Having enjoyed and been most grateful for the testimonies...

Having enjoyed and been most grateful for the testimonies in the Christian Science periodical for the last twenty-two years, I feel it to be a duty, as well as a privilege, to acknowledge my great gratitude for the understanding I have been acquiring of the truth which our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has so clearly and beautifully unfolded to us.

The thought that the realization of the truth is preventive as well as curative has always been a most helpful one to me. I have proved this to be true in the care of my three children, of the ages, eight, five, and one and a half years. They have suffered from practically no ills, the one or two instances of symptoms having been met very quickly. To cite one: on a day when I noticed some kind of rash on the face and body of my eldest boy, I called a practitioner and she told me to read to him from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. This reading healed him, as he was able to be out the following day without a trace of the rash upon him. By seeing signs on many houses in our neighborhood, I discovered that there was an epidemic. Due, no doubt, to not guarding my thought sufficiently from the belief of contagion, a day or two after this my little daughter showed the same manifestation. I decided to read to her also. She was too young to understand each word, but she so responded to the spirit of the reading that as soon as I would stop, she would ask me to continue, by lisping out the words, "Read, mother, read!" She also was healed in a couple of days. In this day of compulsory physical examination of pupils in school, with its suggestions of possible ailments, I feel with many a Christian Science mother that the knowledge of the truth that is taught us in our textbook is the protection we need to help our children through their school days.

That Christian Science meets our every need has been demonstrated to me since the passing on of my mother. The reading of "The Life of Mary Baker Eddy" by Sibyl Wilbur was of great interest to me, showing as it does how very faithfully and unselfishly our Leader worked to prove to the world the healing power and salvation of Christian Science when it is properly applied. I am realizing more clearly each day that it is not the length of time we have studied that helps us, so much as the adoption and practice of the rules of its divine Principle. That is the test and proof of our understanding.—(Mrs.) Hazel S. Taylor, Winnetka, Illinois.
