The Ever Active Spiritual Law of God

Christian Science teaches the allness of God, as Spirit, and declares the fact that spiritual law is the only real, ever active law. This teaching is rapidly changing human belief. Up to the time of their learning of Christian Science, many have thought almost altogether in terms of matter and so-called material law; but now that they have some understanding of the allness of Spirit and spiritual law, things have changed, tremendously changed; for the understanding of the activity of spiritual law is annulling for them the so-called action of material law, and so is counteracting the seeming effects of the latter.

Is it not the case that the belief in material law is invariably associated with evil? Do not mortals constantly think of disease, for example, as the direct or indirect effect of what they call material laws? Indeed, the time of many men is almost wholly devoted to the investigation of these laws, in the belief that thereby the causes of disease will be discovered and means taken to neutralize them. What hope, therefore, is inspired by the understanding of the constant activity of spiritual law, God's law, which is always good!

On pages 398 and 399 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy writes: "Evil has no power, no intelligence, for God is good, and therefore good is infinite, is All." Thus evil has neither power nor intelligence; it has no law to support it, since God is infinite good. On the other hand, good, which is infinite, has the constant support of the spiritual law of God, its divine Principle; and therefore good is omnipotent. To state thus the powerlessness of evil, because it is unsupported by God, and the omnipotence of good, because it is supported by spiritual law, may be to incur the sneer of the evil-thinker and evildoer, but divine Science has revealed the truth, and nothing can overthrow it.
