[Written for the Sentinel]

Reverence

He worshiped God!
Three times each day
Like Daniel he knelt
In humble, earnest prayer;
Nay, not alone on bended knee,
But e'en throughout his waking hours
His thought was filled with gratitude—
With gratitude and praise and glory songs
To his creator!
And in humility for growth in grace he prayed
To worship more:
He worshiped God!

He worshiped God!

He tried to see man
As his Father's child—
Fair, holy, pure, and good—
His brother-man!
He gave to man his honest, tender love,
Compassion, Christlike, pure, to bless and heal
And lift, that through him men might learn
To know their God
And love the Father even as did he,
And worship more:
He worshiped God!
