Christian Science was first presented to me by a woman...
Christian Science was first presented to me by a woman on whom I made a business call. I was so very material in my thought, and so deeply embedded in the beriefs of materia medica, that I did not seem to be impressed by anything she said. Shortly after this my sister became very ill; and after a serious operation and some weeks in a hospital she came home very little better. Her condition grew worse; and at the end of ten months, in desperation I turned ignorantly and blindly to a God whom I did not know, but in whom I believed. My prayer was, "Well, God, if they cannot heal her, send me some way she can be healed." Within a few days a friend who had been healed in Christian Science came to see me; and as a result of his visit we turned to Christian Science. My first visit to the loving practitioner will never be forgotten.
The joy and gratitude for my sister's healing were great; but the joy of knowing God and learning that in Christian Science past mistakes are wiped out was still greater. Then, too, Christian Science has given me the Bible, which had been a closed, unread book. Glasses, which I had worn for about ten years, were removed a few days after the first visit to the practitioner; and many minor physical ailments have been destroyed.
Words cannot possibly express my gratitude for Christian Science, and for its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy.
