From early childhood I was considered very nervous; and as I grew into womanhood I became a nervous wreck, taking medicine most of the time, but getting no relief. After treatments from several physicians I passed through a surgical operation in which several organs were removed. After this was done I became worse than before, apparently suffering from almost every ill "that flesh is heir to,"—extreme nervousness, sick headache, indigestion, liver trouble, gastritis, kidney and bladder trouble, colds, and tonsillitis.
This was the state Christian Science found me in, with no hope of recovery. One day a friend called at my home and told me of Christian Science. I had then been in bed a long time. She gave me the name of a practitioner, and said she would telephone her to come to see me. After my friend had left the house I lay thinking of the wonderful healings she had told me about. I was so uplifted I got up, dressed, and walked five blocks to the practitioner's home, where I found her getting ready to come to me. I shall never forget the joy of that afternoon. After four weeks' treatment I was healed of abdominal trouble, the effects of the operation. Though some of the other healings were not rapid, I continued to improve from that time.
As I have gained an understanding of the truth, error has been destroyed. I wish to give thanks to our heavenly Father for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her wonderful work in giving us this truth through her inspired writings; for our church services; and for the beloved periodicals. I am grateful to the practitioners who have so lovingly helped me over the rough places.
