About twenty years ago the seed of Truth was sown in my consciousness when I heard a lady relate in detail the healing of a financial problem. About this time I was looking for something more than my orthodox church connection and its teachings were able to offer; however, my prejudice toward what I believed to be Christian Science was too rabid to allow my seeking God through that channel. When, however, there seemed no other way out, and no other solution of my problems offered itself, I sought a Christian Science practitioner.
Formerly I had been a specialized accountant, and had lost a splendid position owing to failure to get along with my employer. A new business was launched; but much pioneering was required, which, with limited capital, showed an ever increasing monthly loss. All capital was soon exhausted, together with some borrowed money. This placed me in a desperate position. My troubles, physical, mental, and financial, multiplied until it seemed as if I could bear them no longer.
At this juncture aid was sought in Christian Science. An immediate change was noted. Conditions so improved that the financial losses no longer manifested themselves. At the end of several weeks' splendid work by a diligent practitioner, supplemented on my part by regular and systematic study of the Bible in connection with the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, it appeared the better part of wisdom to seek employment. This thought was discussed with the practitioner, and I immediately went to my office. As I entered, the telephone rang. The voice on the line was that of a gentleman about two hundred miles distant, whom I had never seen. He tendered me a position, and I closed with him at a salary which represented an amount nearly fifty per cent greater than the position had ever paid. I recognized God as an ever present help, and that when the opportunity came Love permitted no delay. At this time the loathsome habit of profanity dropped away without any special Science work being done therefor.
