In gratitude for all the blessings I have received from Christian Science, I do my utmost to demonstrate the truth and to make known the God-principle, which is infinite Love. When I look at the path traversed since the true light dawned upon me, I see that it is strewn with beautiful demonstrations, each one more convincing than the preceding. Often I have received healing or the solution of a problem simply by remembering all that God has already done for me.

Before knowing this truth which frees us from all forms of error, I was a poor wretch who believed himself incapable of any effort and destined to suffer. Moreover, my right arm was shattered by a bullet during the war. After six months' care in hospitals, I was put on half pay, having been certified unfit for any service, as my arm was completely ankylosed. On returning to my family, I received treatment from two good doctors, but without improvement. I remained in this condition for two and a half years. It was at the end of this time of trial that God placed in my path a friend who spoke to me of Christian Science. It was the first time I had heard it spoken of, but I understood at once that the remedy was to be found there for every ill. Very shortly afterwards I began to use my arm, and now it is as useful to me as formerly.

While I was reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy one day, this passage on page 454 attracted my attention: "It need not be added that the use of tobacco or intoxicating drinks is not in harmony with Christian Science." Having been an inveterate smoker, I realized from reading this that I must free myself from this error. I worked to realize the truth; and for the last six years I have not smoked. It has not been without effort, for the temptation to resume this habit has frequently presented itself, under many attractive forms; but, thanks to the armor I have found in Science, each time the temptation has been defeated. By the realization of omnipresent Truth and Love a member of the family with whom there had been a disagreement for several years has returned to his home repentant and full of love.
