I became interested in Christian Science nearly seventeen years ago. My first healings were of a lame side which had troubled me for thirty years, and of a bowel disorder contracted during the Civil War. I had been treated for these difficulties by many physicians, but received no lasting benefit. They were very quickly overcome by absent treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. Since that time I have been healed of pneumonia, heart trouble, ptomaine poisoning, rheumatism, and many other diseases, some through my own understanding of Christian Science, but more through the loving help of practitioners. A recent healing of which I wish to give testimony was that of hiccup. This was so severe at times that it was difficult for me to talk. For several days I had no rest either night or day, and I found myself tempted to fear that it was a form of error beyond the power of Truth to heal; but by the patient, loving help of a practitioner the trouble was overcome in six days.

I thank God for revealing Christian Science to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I cannot find words to express my gratitude to her, and to all who have so lovingly helped me along the way. Christian Science has done more than heal me of disease: it has taught me that God is Love, and to love my neighbor as myself. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church, and also in a branch church.
