Dayton, Ohio (First Church).—Contract for a new church building has been let by the board of trustees of First Church of Christ, Scientist. The new structure will be erected on a site already owned by the church congregation at Rubicon and Saw Mill Roads.

The structure will be built of light brick with stone cornices and columns. Classic lines will be embodied in the building. A copper roof will be one of the exterior features. Attention will be given to the accommodation of large groups of people. For this reason the church will be constructed on a generous scale. The Sunday school room will be entirely above ground, with the main auditorium directly above. This arrangement insures ample natural light and ventilation. The principal part of the ground floor will be devoted to the Sunday school room. The auditorium will have a seating capacity for eight hundred persons. Large windows on each side of the auditorium, clerestory windows at the top, and a large ceiling skylight will be provided. Window glass will be amber toned to flood the interior of the room with a warm glow of natural light. The auditorium will be treated with acoustical felt in order that words spoken on the rostrum may be heard clearly in all parts of the room. Soft coverings will be laid on the floor to prevent any sounds except those of the religious service.—The Dayton Journal
