Christian Science, when intelligently and understandingly...
News Signal
Christian Science, when intelligently and understandingly applied, is more certain in its results than any material method of healing that has ever been known to mankind. Wherever you find an earnest, working student of Christian Science, you find a Christian who is showing by his works that he has found the Christ; and proportionately as he gains the Mind of Christ is he able to do the works Jesus promised his true followers should be able to do.
On page 475 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy states: "Man is incapable of sin, sickness, and death. The real man cannot depart from holiness, nor can God, by whom man is evolved, engender the capacity or freedom to sin. A mortal sinner is not God's man. Mortals are the counterfeits of immortals. They are the children of the wicked one, or the one evil, which declares that man begins in dust or as a material embryo. In divine Science, God and the real man are inseparable as divine Principle and idea." Mrs. Eddy, in thus speaking of the real man, is giving us the same idea the beloved disciple lovingly states in I John: "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure." If, as John states, "Now are we the sons of God," we may with propriety reason that now are we the image and likeness of God, perfect, spiritual, and free, even as God is free. This is the man Christ Jesus beheld in his healing and saving work; and it was his ability to see man as God sees him and know man as God knows him that made it possible for him to perform his healing works. The real man is here, even as God is ever present; and the religion that most clearly reveals this man, the religion that most clearly reveals God and man in His likeness, is the religion that is going to redeem the world from its sickness and its sin. Christian Science wages a relentless warfare against sin and all evil, and will continue to do so until these errors are overcome by Truth. Christian Science presents God's remedy for evil and error of every kind; and that remedy is to become so conscious of good, of God and His perfect creation, as to lose the false consciousness of evil and error. Christian Scientists have Jesus' own promise, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." It is the knowing of this truth that is enabling us to see the man of God's creating.
