Through all the centuries which have intervened since Jesus' time, many people of widely differing religious belief have endeavored to find an answer to Pilate's momentous question, "What is truth?" through dependence on the so-called human mind. Christian Science, on the contrary, avers that it is only as one has the Mind of Christ that real understanding is gained, because, as Paul puts it: "To be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." Therefore, the Christian Scientist endeavors to be spiritually minded,—to reflect, in some measure, God, who, being the only cause and creator, as the Bible teaches, must be supreme intelligence, omnipresent and omnipotent. And in relying entirely upon that understanding of God, he finds that he "can live in modern society and be happy following the Christian doctrines." For the Christian Scientist has learned that God is ever present and ever available, because He is divine Principle; and through Him every one of his problems may be solved. Could there be any happiness greater than this realization? Jesus' works proved his teachings to be of God. The same signs are being given to-day by the students of Christian Science, and are proving to the world that its teachings are entirely those of the Bible but have nothing to do with any of the various kinds of mental science which depend upon the asserted action and influence of so-called human minds.
