For ten years I had been a sufferer from what physicians called Bright's disease. I had not had a single night's rest during this time without using powerful drugs to produce sleep. In addition to this affliction I was suffering from dyspepsia, and had to be very careful of my diet. I was treated by four capable physicians, without receiving relief. I was compelled to give up all business; and upon the advice of my doctor, spent six months on a farm, but returned to the city no better than when I went away.

During all this time one of my friends had been urging me to try Christian Science; but I refused, and continued to suffer. When everything else had failed, and my physician had dismissed himself, saying he could do nothing for me, I applied for Christian Science treatment, but without a particle of faith that I should be benefited. From the first treatment I improved. The practitioner told me I could eat whatever I desired; and this I did, without the slightest discomfort. I was also told to discontinue the use of the drug I was using to produce sleep. I protested against this, as I was certain that without it there would be no rest; but when told that treatment would be denied me unless I obeyed instructions, I consented. I have not used a sleeping medicine since that time.

I was under treatment six weeks. During that period my ailments vanished, one by one, until I was in perfect health. My healing took place twenty years ago, and Christian Science has been my only physician since that time. As evidence that there is not a trace of Bright's disease about me, I have successfully passed the examination for life insurance in one of the old line companies, after a thorough microscopic examination, although previously rejected by two companies on account of kidney trouble.
