One Who Loved

MATTIE E. SIMPSON

"THY will be done"!
Can it have been I ever feared to say
These gentle words, that still my restlessness
Like mother-touch to-day?

"Thy will be done"!
Can it have been I ever thought
Thy will could bring me pain or tears,
Or that distress or fear by Thy dear will are wrought?

Yes! In that shadowy past, before I learned
That God is Love, I feared Thy will.
But now, through faithfulness of one who loved,
My heart looks up at these dear words, and fears and
doubts are still.
