I feel it is my duty and privilege to tell what Christian Science...

I feel it is my duty and privilege to tell what Christian Science has done for me and for my family. Since taking up the study of this beautiful truth we have had many healings. I had suffered for seventeen years from an internal laceration and ulceration. The doctor said that nothing but an operation could cure me; but we would not consent to that. I, therefore, patiently bore the discomfort until, after taking up the study of Christian Science, I suddenly realized that I was healed. I had never thought to ask for treatment for this condition; but while I was studying the Lesson-Sermon and reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, this trouble and other ailments vanished into their native nothingness.

I should like to mention another beautiful healing that we had in our home. We were very young students at the time. One day I was carving some meat, when suddenly the carving fork slipped and struck the eyeball of my little boy, who was close by. I was so filled with fear that I did not know what to do; but a Christian Science friend, who was in the house at the time, took the child into another room and asked for a handkerchief to put over the eye. She also told the boy to repeat after her the "scientific statement of being," as found on page 468 of the textbook, and talked to him until the fear was subdued. The accident occurred about half past twelve, and by three o'clock in the afternoon he was out in the garden playing. By tea time the handkerchief had dropped off; he was healed. He went to school next morning. This was a most wonderful demonstration, and proved that "the word of God is quick, and powerful." It would take too long to tell of all the healings in our home. Rheumatism, influenza, indigestion, colic, and severe headaches have been overcome. Glasses were discarded by my daughter at the age of twelve and a half years. She made the demonstration herself.

Words can never express my gratitude for the spiritual uplift, and for the way the textbook has illumined the Scriptures for me. I am most deeply grateful to our Father-Mother God; to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower; and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—(Mrs.) Annie E. Garward, Geelong, Victoria, Australia.
